About Our School St. Philip’s is a popular and successful Voluntary Controlled Church of England primary school. Voluntary controlled schools are funded and controlled by the state through the local education authority but they keep strong links with the body that originally founded and built them; in our case the Church of England parish of St. Philip’s. The Foundation Governors maintain these links. The school is situated next to the westbound dual carriageway of the A5036 trunk road, which links Maghull with Seaforth Docks. Visitor’s are most welcome and may call into school, without appointment, before of after the school day. Appointments at other times may be arranged by contacting the school. At September 2010 there are 201 pupils on roll. There are eight classes – three infants and five juniors, all housed in an attractive, modern building. The school was extended in 1999 and further building work has been undertaken in 2002, 2006 and 2010. A new kitchen was installed in 2007. A Community Room and Lift to 1st Floor was installed in 2010. The whole site has benefited from European funding and has extended pathways and shrubberies. The site also includes a large playground with seating and a sports field.
