Week 8

Hello year one,

It has been so lovely to recieve work back through Purple Mash. Your self-portraits have been beautiful!

I hope you all had a wonderful bank holiday weekend. How did you celebrate VE Day? I went for a lovely walk and had afternoon tea in the very little bit of grass I have at the front of my home. If you have any pictures of your celebrations please send them in a purple mash email to add to our class page on the website.

This week you have maths activities, an English task, phonics lessons and a new science focus of animals. Keep checking purple mash for more interective actvities and dont forget to send me any emails with questions or pictures of any actvities you have completed whilst being home. I would love to see what you have been up to and I can post them on our class page for your class friends to see.

Have a great week and KEEP SMILING,

Miss Ingham :)

Maths

Parents if you are ready to, move on to Summer Term – Week 2 (w/c 27th April). Or just continue from where you last finished.

If you are struggling to do the work because you cannot print off the sheets please do not worry about printing the sheets off, most of the learning can either be done through the attached videos or written onto paper. Also if you have finished all the work or a looking for a sheet free alternative the BBC have created a fantastic learning resource where they upload new Maths, English and Topic lessons everyday with informative videos from a range of celebrities and activities to go alongside the lessons too. Please follow this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zjpqqp3/year-1-lessons/1

and there are other good online lessons on Oak National Academy too please copy and paste:  https://www.thenational.academy/

English

Parents, we are living through an historical time and I thought it would be a nice idea for you sit with your child and reflect on your time in lock down. Could they draw a picture and write a few sentences to show how they have felt, or what has been their most memorable lockdown memory? This is an open task that should reflect whatever or however they lead your reflective conversation.

Once completed, please send a picture the work to me via '2Email' on Purple Mash - type 'email' in the search box. I will then create a class book for school to keep. If you are happy for them to go on our class website page, do let me know in your email, that way I can share them with you children's peers.

Hope you enjoy this reflective activity togther :)

Phonics

Here are the next phonics letters and sounds lessons on YouTube. Remember you can complete these lessons together in smaller chunks spread across a couple of days.

Science

This week we are going to look at animals. This is an opportunity to consider their similarities and differences but also to learn more about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. There will be a number of activities set through Purple Mash for this as well as some resources below.

Computing

In year one, it is important that we are reminded of how to be safe online. This pack has lots of quick activities to do together.
