Please put Friday February 14th in your diaries as a School open afternoon when each class will be cooking as part of their PhunkyFoods programme.
We are aiming to use this event to launch our family food activities and thought it would be a nice way to end our half term.
The School Council have adopted a soft toy dog as the school’s Anti-Bullying Mascot with the intention that each week the class that shows the best, most caring attitude towards each other at playtimes and lunchtimes will win the toy dog for the week and be given an extra play-time.
The competition they have launched is for the pupils in the school to think of a name for the toy dog. It costs 20p to enter which will go the School Council Anti-Bullying Resources Funds.
Entries should be in by Tuesday January 21st and the winner who will receive a soft toy to keep, will be announced next Wednesday.
Mrs. Bostock, Parent Support Assistant is in the process of arranging three courses for parents which will run in school this term.
These are “Speakeasy;” Triple P Parenting course and a DIY course.
Mrs. Bostock will send out letters giving full details during the course of next week.
Do consider taking part in one of the courses or all three if you have the time. The more parents we have the better it is.
We are very grateful to the PTA for funding the new lunchtime play equipment which has now arrived in school. Lunchtime can be a lengthy play-time and we are hoping that every child will benefit from structured play and team games.
As many of you will already be aware, Denise, Vicar of St. Philip’s Church leaves to take up her new parish in early February. Her Leaving Service takes place on February 2nd at which school will be represented by the school choir. Denise has given so much of her time and energy to the school community that it is only fitting that we show our appreciation. If any parents would like to make a donation towards Denise’s leaving gift from the school, please could they pass it into the school office.
A big thank you to the school PTA for organising the Bingo last Tuesday and the Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning. Both events were really well supported by parents and children and enjoyed by all who took part. The PTA does wonders for the school considering the small number of parents who are on the committee. Thank you again and thank you to all the families who have attended these events.
Thank you for supporting the Christmas Play. It was wonderful to see so many parents at all three performances. The children were a delight to watch and looked great in their costumes. We have a number of pupils who really show a flair for acting and we look forward to seeing them develop these skills as they go through school. Many thanks to the Infant staff who work so hard throughout the year but doubly so at Christmas to ensure that the Nativity Play is as good as it can be. Well done to you all.
School is always glad of help and we do appreciate the time parents give up freely to support the children with reading and practical activities.
Parents are placed where there is most need and this has worked very well over the years.
Do see Mrs. Bostock if you would like to volunteer for a few hours per week and she will liaise with myself to place you in one of the classes where a bit of extra support would be helpful at this particular time.
