Pupil Premium at St Philip’s CE Primary School

Our Mission Statement:

“What God has created, we nurture and celebrate in His love.”

This mission underpins all that we do at St Philip’s CE Primary School, including how we use our Pupil Premium funding to ensure that every child is valued, supported, and able to flourish.

Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for children who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), or who have been eligible at any point in the last six years, for children who are looked after (or previously looked after), and for children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to support these pupils.

At St Philip’s, we use this funding to offer targeted educational support and resources designed to accelerate progress, raise attainment, and help close the gap between eligible pupils and their peers. Guided by our Christian values, we aim to nurture every child and enable them to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

How We Use Pupil Premium Funding

Our Pupil Premium allocation enables us to offer a wide range of additional support for children across the school.

A key aim in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to reduce the attainment gap between different pupil groups. Our focus is to identify barriers to learning and address them effectively.

Targeted Support

We provide a range of one-to-one and small-group interventions throughout the school. These sessions help pupils understand their next steps, strengthen key skills, and build confidence in their learning.

We are committed to offering rich and meaningful learning experiences. Children benefit from a wide variety of extended learning opportunities, including after-school clubs, enrichment activities, and wider curriculum experiences that support personal development, broaden aspirations, and nurture individual talents.

Another priority is ensuring that pupils have access to practical, first-hand learning experiences. Educational visits, visitors, and workshops are planned carefully to enrich the curriculum and build cultural capital for all children, particularly those funded through the Pupil Premium.

Measuring Impact

We rigorously monitor the impact of Pupil Premium funding throughout the year and review outcomes annually. Our approach includes:

  • Half-termly pupil progress meetings to review attainment and progress
  • Termly SEND meetings to track the progress of pupils with additional needs
  • Monitoring outcomes through SEND support plans and reports from external professionals
  • Regular analysis of attendance data
  • Book scrutinies, moderation of work, and pupil interviews
  • Ongoing evaluation of intervention groups to ensure they are effective

This thorough monitoring ensures that Pupil Premium funding is used purposefully and that the support provided makes a meaningful difference to pupils’ outcomes and wellbeing.
